This is a lantern festival held on the Motoyasu River in front of the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima on the 60th anniversary of the bombing (Aug. 6, 2005). During this annual festival thousands of lanterns are floated on the river to pay respect for souls lost in the attack and to appeal for world peace.
