This is Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) candidate Renho Murata, a TV personality who won a seat in the 20th upper house election in June, 2004. Known by her first name of “Renho”, this former TV reporter took one of four seats in the hotly contested Tokyo district. This was due to her celebrity status and campaign slogan “MaMa Festo” which appealed to grassroots voters. She is seen here campaigning in Tokyo's Ginza shopping district.
