Artist Takashi Murakami
Japan
August, 2003
This is well known Japanese artist Takashi Murakami with his creation Reversed Double Helix, at the Lucky Wide foundry in Kawaguchi City where he constructed it. Nicknamed Tongari-kun, a slang word for pointy-head, this 30 foot (14 meter) statue looks like a metamorphosed frog with several hands and eyes. Shortly after being constructed it was displayed at New York’s Rockefeller Center in the Fall of 2003.
